Everyone WINS with Trampolines!
Trampolines are the perfect and inexpensive way for the entire family to have some fun right in their backyard. As far as you have sufficient space for one, they are easy to set up and provide hours of fun and fitness. You may be aware of a trampoline club at your school or college or may have used one at your local gym. Mini trampolines offer a great way for fitness at home or in a fitness club. If you are a gymnast or know one, trampolines are used for performing somersaults and twists. In fact, trampolining was introduced as an Olympic sport in the year 2000!
George Nissen and Larry Grisworld observed trapeze artists and came up with the idea of a trampoline in the year 1936. By 1942, they were manufacturing them on a commercial scale. Mostly used for recreation, trampolines come in all kinds of shapes and sizes. They are undoubtedly a delight for young children and when they come in circular, square and even octagonal shapes, they can fit any kind of space you might have. These recreational models, however, have weaker springs than the ones used by gymnasts. The construction is not that sturdy either but they do come with a safety net. Then there are the larger models that are used for competitions. Due to their size, these are foldable and use coiled springs of steel. With one of these, a trained gymnast can reach a height of up to 33’. The kinds you will find at homes or your fitness center are known as the rebounder trampolines. Sometimes they are also referred to as mini trampolines, trampettes or jogging trampolines. The smallest would measure about 3’ across and may be the foldable variety so they can be stored conveniently. These are a great way to remain fit and do not put any stress on your knees. Obviously, these do not bounce you really high and some of them even come with protective bars to hold on to and prevent you from falling over as you exercise.
When purchasing a trampoline, always ensure you have checked for safety features like the bars and safety nets. Most accidents on a trampette often occur when you try to do complex jumps like a somersault without prior training. The worse is when people fall off and land on their necks or head causing the most injury, mostly spinal. This makes it important to have those safety nets around them for avoiding contact with the ground. It is the safest to use one under supervision and only for low impact training unless you have had formal training. It is advisable that you first join a health club that features a trampoline to exercise under supervision before you venture out to bring one to your home. It is a good pastime and a great way of exercising. Of course, you cannot rule out the fun factor – trampolines offer you the nearest experience to flying when your feet are off the ground!
